Journal Writing T3 W7 : Graciousness

The meaning of graciousness is pleasantly kind, benevolent, and courteous. Some examples of acts of graciousness are to be helpful to people and to use kind words to people such as thank you. Acts of graciousness I have personally done is help my neighbour carry things she cannot carry by herself. Other reasons I think we should be gracious to one another is so that they will treat us the same way. I think Singaporeans are generally gracious as they say thank you when I help them with something. We make Anderson pupils more gracious by encouraging them to be gracious by giving rewards when they are gracious. I like the 'Magical Dust of Kindness' project as it was very meaningful. I benefitted from this project as it had taught me to be gracious.

Journal Writing T3 W6 : Cyber Contacts

I have never revealed my personal information online as I do not think it is save to do so.
Some forms of personal information that can be shared online are age, gender and hobbies. Some forms cannot be shared online are photos, full name, phone number, email address and house address and your school. The dangers of sharing personal information are if you reveal your photos, people may use it against you. If you reveal your full name, they may make fun out of your name. If you reveal your phone number and email address, you may get unwanted calls and emails. If you reveal your house address and school, they may harrass you. I would not give any of my personal information if my Cyber pal requested for personal information to be shared and I will stop talking to him and ignore him. I would also tell my parents about him. If any of my cyber pals asked me to go out with them, I would not do so as it is very dangerous as I do not know them. But I would if it is someone I know and trust. I would also tell my parents and get them to come with me. I can protect myself from people with evil intentions in the cyber space by not mixing with them and not chatting with anyone I do not know.

Journal Writing T3W5 : Cyberwellness - Inappropriate Content

I ever seen anything online that made me afraid, uncomfortable or feel excited and yet guilty because I sensed that it was wrong. The content I saw was a website on cheating exams methods and I knew it was inappropriate because it is wrong to cheat in exams or tests. At once I told my parents and close it. I do not know of friends or classmates who have seen inappropriate content on the Internet. I would tell my friends to inform a teacher or his/her parents and close it at once.

Journal Writing:T3W4:Cyber Addiction

I spend 1 hour on the computer. I am not addicted to the computer as I control the time I spent on the computer and I will only play the computer after I finish all my work. I can prevent Cyber Addiction by playing outdoor games when I feel the urge to play the computer. The advice I would give to my friend who is addicted to computer games is to not play to much and ask to play some outdoor games.

JournalWriting:T3W3 : Effects Of Preventive Measures On Pupils

I think of the school's preventive measures for H1N1 such as temperature-taking, no assembly in the hall, cancellation of remedial lessons, CCA and other activities is necessary as it would minimise contact from pupils to pupils. So far no activities have affected me. The cancellation of these activities does not really affect me as remedial lessons for primary 6 wil carry on as per normal. I do not think the school is less interesting. My relationship with my friends and teachers is not affected. I go home and study with the extra time you I now. My activities outside school are not affected.

I felt very happy after doing that act of kindness. Other acts of kindness I would like to do is to help others more ofter. I myself can promote the message of kindness to my friends by telling them to be more polite.

T2 W4 Journal Writing : International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day celebrations take place on the first Sunday of August every year. The tradition of dedicating a day in honor of friends began in US in 1935(no references). Gradually the festival gained popularity and today Friendship Day is celebrated in large number of countries. On this day people spend time with their friends and express love for them. Exchange of Friendship Day Gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is a popular tradition of this occasion.

We celebrate International Friendship Day by getting pupils from other countries to wear their national costume. ASEAN stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. I like the activities by the school on International Friendship Day because it is interesting. I have a friend in a ASEAN country. I got to know him one day when I sat on a bus with him.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, commonly abbreviated ASEAN (generally pronounced occasionally in English, the official language of the bloc), is a geo-political and economic organization of 10 countries located in Southeast Asia, which was formed on 8 August 1967 by Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Since then, membership has expanded to include Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Its aims include the acceleration of economic growth, social progress, cultural development among its members, the protection of the peace and stability of the region, and to provide opportunities for member countries to discuss differences peacefully.

For the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), April 11, 2009, will be remembered as the day of a major embarrassment. The Thai government was forced to cancel the summit between ASEAN and its dialogue partners — the ASEAN+3 (APT) Summit and the East Asian Summit (EAS) — initially planned to be held in Pattaya. Hundreds of red-shirted pro-Thaksin protestors broke into the site of the summit and forced the government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to declare a state of emergency in Pattaya.

I think the school should make all Andersonians buddies with the pupils from ASEAN countries. In doing so, we can develop friendship with pupils from ASEAN countries. We can then understand their traditions, culture, language and religion.

T2 W3 Journal Writing: Improving the School

I like the library very much as there is a wide range of books there. I think I dislike the hall the most as it is very hot and uncomfortable as there are always a lot of people there. I think installing the air con faster can be done to inprove the school. The other areas of the school that should be improved is making the field indoor. Pupils can help in the improvement of the school by not damaging and vandalising the facilities.

T2W2 Journal Writing : Healthy Eating

I have to eat fruits and vegetables in order to be healthy. 8 foods you should eat to be healthy are:1. Sweet potatoes. They're loaded with carotenoids, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. 2. 100% whole grain bread contains many more vitamins and minerals than its white counterpart. 3. Broccoli comes packed with vitamin C, carotenoids and folic acid. 4. Watermelon makes an excellent source of vitamin C and carotenoids. 5. Spinach and kale provide calcium, fiber, carotenoids, and vitamin C. 6. Oranges contain vitamin C, plus abundant folic acid, potassium and fiber. 7. Oatmeal provides soluble fiber that helps lower bad cholesterol while improving good cholesterol. 8. milk ranks as an excellent source of protein, with little or no artery-clogging fat or cholesterol. Some of the unhealthy food adults and children like to eat are 1. Soda.2.Potato chips and French fries.3.Doughnuts.4.Doughnuts5.Luncheon Meats/Hot Dogs.6. Canned Soup. some of the diseases associated with eating unhealthy food are diabetes, heart disease, cancer and stroke. The benefits of eating fruits and vegetables are because fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that may help protect you from chronic diseases. Compared with people who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts as part of a healthful diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases, including stroke and perhaps other cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers. I like to eat fruits and one kind of vegetables, broccoli, Fruit Is 100% Bad-Cholesterol Free . I support the school's campaign in encouraging pupils to eat more fruits and vegetables, because fruit is very healtly.

T1 W9 Journal Writing Fire Safety

I ever experienced one incident of fire break out in my house before,I took a tissue paper and went too near the fire stove and sat it on fire, luckly my aunt was at home and quickly splash water on the small fire. The fire was put out in time. My parents and brother was not at home atthat time.I would splash water on a fire if I see one or get a water hose if there is one. I can also use a fire extinguisher. I think fires in homes or outside are caused by human carelessness. I prevent fire from breaking out in my home and outside by watching over open fires. If I were given a chance to introduce an activity for children to learn fire safety it would a fire drill.

The purpose of setting targets for the various subjects is to let the student have a goal to work forward to.I think this is useful because it let us have something to achieve. I am studying hard to help myself achieve my target. My parents are helping me achieve my targets by coaching me how to do my schoolwork.I will reward myself if I succeed to motivate myself towards achieving my targets.I think my teacher/the school can help me achieve my targets by teaching me how to do the work I don't know how to do.

T1W4 Journal Writing : Festivals

Chinese New Year, festival based on the lunar calendar and falling between January 21 and February 19. It is the most important event in the Chinese year and festivities traditionally last for two weeks. During this period, towns and villages are decorated with coloured lanterns, floral displays, and brightly coloured banners emblazoned with New Year greetings. In Chinese communities in Britain, Hong Kong S. A. R., and elsewhere in the world outside mainland China, this is usually the Cantonese greeting Kung hay fat choy, meaning “May you prosper”. In the home, preparations begin in the week before New Year when, to honour the kitchen god, the house is thoroughly cleaned and decorated with flowers, food is prepared, debts are paid off, and on New Year's Eve fireworks are let off. In the New Year people put on new clothes to symbolize the discarding of the old year and its misfortunes and take gifts to friends and relatives. These usually include foods such as special rice flour cakes and kumquats that signify prosperity. Other familiar gifts believed to bring good fortune are the small red paper packets containing money that married couples give to unmarried relatives, friends, and children.

Among the most spectacular communal events are the dragon and lion dances which are performed to the sound of gongs and drums as they parade through the streets and reach up to take red money packets and fruit and vegetables which are hung from shops in the hope of good fortune. The celebrations end with the Lantern Festival when, traditionally, children parade through the streets with lighted lanterns.

tooth fairy

The Tooth Fairy is a mythical character depicted as a fairy that gives a child money in exchange for a baby tooth that has fallen out. Children typically place the tooth under their pillow at night while they sleep. The fairy is said to take the tooth from under the pillow and replace it with money. early Europe, there was a tradition to bury baby teeth that fell out.[2] Some believe that the Tooth Fairy evolved from the tooth mouse depicted in an 18th century French language fairy tale. In "La Bonne Petite Souris," a mouse changes into a fairy to help a good queen defeat an evil king by hiding under his pillow to torture him and knocking out all his teeth. In some Asian countries, such as India, Korea and Vietnam, when a child loses a tooth the usual custom is that he or she should throw it onto the roof if it came from the lower jaw, or into the space beneath the floor if it came from the upper jaw. While doing this, the child shouts a request for the tooth to be replaced with the tooth of a mouse. This tradition is based on the fact that the teeth of mice go on growing for their whole life, a characteristic of all rodents.
In parts of India, young children offer their discarded baby tooth to the sun, sometimes wrapped in a tiny rag of cotton turf.

T1 W2 School's Vision, Mission and Values

The school vision is "A school of distinction Nurturing Future-Ready Citizens of Character."

The school mission is "Providing Quality Education to Equip Pupils with the Values, knowledge and Skills for the 21 Century."

The values are "Self-disclipline,Passion for learning,Integrity,Courage,Excellence and Sincerity."

I think the school's vision, mission and values are meaningful.

I believe in the school values. They guide me to study better.

students do not think of the school values when engaging in activities in school. They do not behave themself.

I live up to the school values by behave well in and outside the school.

I think the teachers can help students learn the values in class and in school by giving rewards to pupils who behave themself.
